Spotlight On …

Posted by bnwadmin On May - 2 - 2010

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in style at Brave New Worlds as another big week of new comics awaits you this Wednesday … take a look below at the big titles and collections shipping May 5.

Astonishing Spider-Man Wolverine #1 Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert team-up on this Heroic Age title that pits Marvel’s ferocious furball and wise-cracking web-slinger against all-new foes.

Batman & Robin #12 Grant Morrison promises all will be revealed in the final installment of “Batman vs Robin,” plus the identity of the Domino Killer and the return of a fan favorite (Bat-Mite anyone?)

Brightest Day #1 Just because the title reads Brightest Day does not mean all is shiny for our returnees … Geoff Johns pens this twice-a-month title which will allow a select few find the secret that binds them together (I’m thinking its a night in Vegas and tequila shots).

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #35 The finale of the Twilight story (not that Twilight) from Brad Meltzer.  After her lady of Buffdom and Twi… er, Angel did the deed ALL LAST ISSUE, what is there really left to know?

Hellboy in Mexico or Drunken Blur One Shot Mike Mignola pens this tale of a trip to Mexico in the 1950s for everyone’s favorite hellspawn.  Hilarity ensues, natch!

iZombie #1 Here’s a first – a zombie detective that must eat one human brain a month, not because they are a zombie, but to keep her memories and solve crimes.  Sherlock Holmes eat your heart out (not literally, that’s for the zombies to do).  Only from the mind of Michael Allred.

Superman War of the Supermen #1 Zod has finally shown his true colors, not let’s get ready to RUMBLE!

Uncanny X-Men #524 Is Hope the mutant messiah, or pariah?  Chapter 6 of Second Coming is here as the X-squads lay to rest one of their longtime members who died protecting Hope – he believed in her, do you?

X-Men Hellbound #1 Remember in Second Coming when Magik teleported away because she was injured, well this three-issue mini-series tells you what happens next.  You know you want to know …

Cable TP Volume 3 Stranded Duane Swierczynski Collects Cable #16-20 as Hope and Cable continue to flee Bishop.  But wait there’s more, the Brood (oh boy!).  Click HERE to check out one of the interior pages.

Dark Tower TP Gunslinger Born Finally Pete David and Robin Furth’s new adventures set in Stephen King’s Dark Tower universe is available in trade paperback this week.  Collects all seven issues.

Dark X-Men Premiere HC Norman Osborn has his Dark Avengers, but now he needs his Dark X-Men as Mystique leads this team.  Collects all five issues.

Deadpool TP Volume 3 X Marks Spot Collects Deadpool #13-18 … Wade has decided its time to be an X-Man.  Sucks to be them.

Invincible Iron Man TP Volume 3 Most Wanted Book 2 The second volume of Matt Fraction’s awesome Iron Man Most Wanted Story is collected here (Invincible Iron Man #14-19.

Walking Dead HC Volume 5 Because you have been impatiently waiting for this, collecting issues #49-60. A perfect oversized collection for the die-hards, new readers or anyone looking to read the next hottest zombie property.

Free Comic Book Day Update!

Posted by bnwadmin On April - 26 - 2010

Free Comic Book Day 2010 is almost here – Saturday, May 1.  So the real question is, which Brave New Worlds location are you planning on attending for the day’s festivities?

Brave New Worlds Willow Grove

Marvel Comics artist Billy Tan (Thor) and Marvel Comics writer Duane Swierczynski (Cable, Iron Fist) will both be signing autographs from 1-3 p.m.

But wait, there’s more – the  Zenescope Comics’ 2009 Girl of the Year and Runner-Up will both be in attendance dressed as DC Comics Zatanna and Marvel Comics Black Cat, respectively.

Plus, Brave New Worlds Willow Grove will also be hosting Warhammer 40k, Dungeons & Dragons and (Just AnnouncedHeroClix demonstrations during the day.

And of course, we will also have a select group of free comic books available as well.

Brave New Worlds Old City

501st Star Wars Legion of Stormtroopers (Brave New Worlds sadly has to announce that word has come down from the Galactic Empire’s Offices on Coruscant that the 501st will not be deployed on saturday due to increased Rebel hostiles/sympathizers in the sector of Old City but will be moved to the Death Star II orbiting the planet Endor for hopefully safer conditions for the weekend. We wish them well and send them off with high hopes for safety and a relaxing time on the space station…)

Spider-Man and the 8′ Zombie Hulk (cos-play that you gotta see!)will be appearing though out the day with local artists groups doing sketches and now just announced the Broadzilla DJs will be spinning all sorts of tunes all afternoon long! Free Comic Book Day in Old City is gonna be hoppin’!
