2 Books I Wanna Read Tomorrow

Posted by BRiAN On April - 12 - 2011

It’s Lincoln’s Assassination week once again and also there are new comics hitting the shelves Wednesday. Let’s look at 2 comics I wanna read tomorrow…

Uncanny X-Force #7: If you haven’t been reading this book you must either hate the concept of great teams (both creative and fictional), don’t like an X-Book no matter what’s going on or have just plain been ignoring me the last six months. So far Rick Remender’s X-force has gone up against a Apocalypse and his new Horsemen (the end of that story had Deadpool crying fowl for something he felt was wrong from a moral standpoint!), had Psylocke deal some damage to a Utopia invading crew of Reavers and we are currently knee deep in a “future changing the past” type story involving Deathlok(s) and the Weapon Plus facility known as The World. The Deathlok(s) featured heavily recently in a Terminator like story over in the last arc of Jason Aaron’s Wolverine Weapon X comic (volume 3 is in paperback right now and is a must read!).  We also saw Norman Osborn steal Deathlok files from the World in the Dark Reign The List Wolverine 1-Shot (also a must read). Anyway you should be reading this book. Remender is one of those guys I’ve been excited about for the last few years and am really excited he’s getting some high profile work. Besides the story being awesome the art in this series has been nothing but fantastic. Jerome Opeña had the first arc, Rafael Albuquerque did the “point one” issue and Esad Ribic is currently on art duty. If you are not familiar with the work of these fine gentleman I recommend you do something about that. Anyway grab this comic! (also UNCANNY X-FORCE PREM HC APOCALYPSE SOLUTION [issues #1-4, $19.99] comes out this week so you can catch up!)

Uncanny X-Force #7, Rick Remender(w)/Esad Ribic(a), 32 pages, full color, $3.99, Marvel Comics

Justice League Generation Lost #23: This is a book that I have been reading on and off for a while now. But the only reason I can think of for the on and off relationship is because it comes out so often I forget about it and miss and issue here and there. This every other week schedule is almost too regular for me (I’m used to books being delayed for months on end and never being sure when they are coming out [I’m looking right at you KICK ASS #2!]). All kidding about how comics get delayed too much aside this comic does in fact come out super regularly and is not hurt by that fact at all. It’s telling a great story and the tension is just building and building as more and more people remember who the heck Max Lord is/was. Throw in “deaths” of characters, OMACS, CheckMate and the fact that it’s a very diverse team this book has almost become the good guys analogous of Secret Six. And guess what, the first Hardcover comes out this week as well so it’ll be there to help you get into the series just like X-Force (JUSTICE LEAGUE GENERATION LOST HC VOL 01[issues #1-12, $39.99] ). In a DCU where I’ve had a hard time getting back into the JLA this book sure has gotten a hold of me. It’s really worth checking out.

Justice League Generation Lost #23, Judd Winnick(w)/Fernando Dagnino(a), 32 pages, full color, $2.99, DC Comics
