With comics out tomorrow (Thursday) rather than today (Wednesday [the usual day to you newbies]) let’s take a look at 2 books I am really looking forward to sitting down and reading

•Action Comics Annual #13: If you haven’t been reading Paul Cornell’s (w) run on Action…what the H is wrong with you?!!?!! So you don’t like Superman books…so what!? Lex Luthor rules!, and Cornell has been taking this Super villain on an awesome little trip through the “Who’s Who of the DCU“‘s Villains. If you, like me or like any good fan(boy or girl), enjoy some obscure DC comics characters then you love it when characters like Mr. Mind or Vandal Savage show up (and so far Lex has met up with them in previous issues). In this annual we get to see two formative encounters for a young Mr. Luthor…with Darkseid (you know I’m in as soon as that gods name gets mentioned) and Ra’s al Ghul. While the issue is a bit pricier than regular issues of Action, it is an Annual and has two stories between those two covers. I will probably be reading this one first tomorrow (or tonight ;P ).

Action Comics Annual #13, Paul Cornell(w)/Marco Rudy(a)/Ed Benes(a), 56pages, full color, $4.99, DC Comics

Wolverine The Best There Is #1: While I definitely feel that there is no need for yet another Wolvie title, after we just wrapped up some older ones and started a new series where his soul is in Hell  (ya hear me Marvel?!?!), I am curious about this title since Logan is one of my long time fave characters. Charlie Huston is a respected name in hard boiled crime and I enjoyed his Ain’t No Dog one-shot for X-Force a while ago (which he wrote a story with other Wolverine writer Jason Aaron…hmmm) that focused on our boy Wolverine, so I’ll be intrigued to see where this story will take us. I am also intrigued by the fact that it says in red on the cover of the book (and the blank cover for that matter) “PARENTAL ADVISORY NOT FOR KIDS!” What the heck kinda Garth Ennis lines may we be crossing in this title?! Also the cover has him killing rats just like Charlie Kelly did in the latest episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Anyway I will most likely read this book first in my Marvel pile (I’ve started reading all DC books then all Marvel or vice versa).

Wolverine The Best There Is #1, Charlie Huston(w)/Juan Jose Ryp(a), 32 pages, full color, $3.99, Marvel Comics

I’m also gonna read the END of Shadowland, Daredevil, Batman 80page Giant, Baltimore Plague Ships, Secret Six, RASL (!!!!) and Generation Hope. See you at the shops guys n gals!!!
