Friday Innernette & Thoughts

Posted by BRiAN On September - 17 - 2010

Good Friday to you all!!! I’m still riding high after seeing Ted Leo and the Pharmacists last night at the Ox warehouse here in Philly…if you didn’t get to that show then shame on you! You cheated yourself out of an amazing amazing rockin’ evening.

As for Ted Leo and the Rx if you do not know them… get to know them. They rule. Here’s 2 songs (one really new and one a cover…i may have even posted them here before but who cares they’re great!)

Bottled In Cork (w/ Paul F. Tompkins)

Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Tears for Fears cover over at the AV Club)

If you know me, then you know I like America/American History. I woke up this morning to a rousing email from my father reminding me that today is the 148th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam at Sharpsburg Va. This being the bloodiest single day in American history my Dad was just writing to remind me that my great great great grandfather was there and that this is a day that many people don’t ever think about (unlike D Day, Pearl Harbor Day and 9/11). Anyways here’s some reading for you history buffs.

Have you ever thought that your day at work kinda sucks. File this. Fill out those TPS reports. Talk to Jan over at the watercooler about America’s Got Talent even though you’ve never seen it but all she wants to do is talk about some dumb kid who can sing while swinging from a trapeze even tho he was born without legs. Or maybe you love your job. Either way watch this video and wonder like I did when I saw it earlier in the week…could I do this crazy ass job?!

As the Phillies pick up steam and September continues to be super exciting let’s take a moment to think about the Mets….hate the Mets.

The Mets are hiring

I love coffee and I love my friend’s Paraguayan cafe at 2nd n Poplar here in Philly. Today they gave us a little chart about caffeine.

A picture I'm posting for no reason other than that it RULES!

I loved the Expendables but I am begining to fear that Sly Stallone has gone nuts. His twitter feed is just kinda batty.

Geekadelphia’s Dan got to interview hot girl Emma Stone recently. Hit it up to see if he asked her the tough questions.

Comic Book Resources had some video laying around that I finally caught up on watching today featuring X-23 in the new Marvel vs Capcom game. Also read her new #1 that came out this past Wed…it was better than I thought it would be.

This looks like it could be super sweet. It’s called Super.

I just found out that one of my customer fiends sculpted this badass Sue Storm statue for SideShow Collectibles.

And lastly let me introduce our newest neighbor on 2nd street in Old City: Melanie’s Place! She does custom Upholstery and showcases all sorts of local artisans.Tonight she’s hosting her GRAND OPENING, about 3 or 4 doors north of us, at 53 North 2nd Street. Try to stop by…I should be swinging by after I close around 8pm. Also become her friend on facebook. We want Melanie to be around for a while because she’s another breath of fresh air in the stale air on the Planet of the Apes that is 2nd street.
