Getting Closer
Phase 3
The longest phase of this project begins with the construction of the “Great Wall of Comics” and trade paperback racks. In addition, slat wall has been hung and display cases have been delivered.
The “Great Wall” takes a lot of wood as you can see from the photos. But in the end, it’s worth it as version 2.0 of the wall trumps the first few versions.
Phase 2
Phase two was all about the paint. The pictures really do not do the colors justice.
Phase 1 – Hulk Smash!
Or better known as the demolition.
The store originally had two walls separating the front from the back.
We had to tear out a functioning kitchen and two walls. One of which was a cruel combination of what seemed every construction resource in the world.
While several members of the group almost got electrocuted the walls came crumbling down.
Phase Zero
Although a few sites were considered throughout the area, this was the one that got the juices flowing. This is the site Brave New Worlds II was meant to be – 45 North 2nd Street, Philadelphia.
This location is right across the street from the Arden Theatre, between Market and Arch. Just a stone’s throw from Penn’s Landing, South Street, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell …
